Amanda W., Ph.D.
Amanda W. completed her undergraduate work at Rochester Institute of Technology, where she earned both a B.S. and M.S. in Bioinformatics while applying her computational expertise to bacterial enzymology research in the laboratory of Dr. Suzanne O'Handley. Having developed an interest in biochemistry, she continued her studies at Cornell University in the Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology Ph.D. program. At Cornell, she joined Dr. Chris Fromme's laboratory in the Weill Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology and studied membrane trafficking in budding yeast using microscopy and structural biology techniques. Amanda then joined the Houston Methodist Research Institute as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Zheng-Zheng Shi, where she studied proteins involved in translational control during cellular stress responses. In 2015, Amanda joined BioScience Writers as a Project Manager, where she is eager to use her experience to help clients publish and fund their research.
