Amy earned her Bachelor's degree in biology from Oberlin College and her Ph.D. from the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow at The Scripps Research Institute,in the Department of Cell Biology.
