Kathryn T., Ph.D.
Kathryn earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology and Psychology from the University of Georgia and her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow at New York University in the Neuroscience department. Kathryn has 7 years of experience in translational biomedical research, including the areas of oncology, neurobiology, cellular and molecular biology, and developmental biology. She also has experience in drug discovery and the clinical trials process through training with the Howard Hughes Fellowship program. Her research has focused mainly on cell surface receptors and signaling pathways, including G-protein coupled receptors, ion channels, and cell death pathways. She has used techniques for in vitro cell culture, in situ tissue slices, and in vivo mouse models, including assays to test calcium responses, electrophysiological changes, reactive oxygen species, migration, proliferation, and apoptosis. During these 7 years, she authored and edited many publications, including literature reviews.
