Padmashree R., Ph.D.
Padmashree R. received her Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the National University of Singapore. She has over 15 years' experience in basic, clinical, and translational research as well as in scientific writing. Her doctoral work on the regulatory biology of cell cycle transitions in the budding yeast uncovered crucial links between the core molecular machinery regulating mitosis, exit from mitosis, and cell polarization in G1. Her postdoctoral work at Stonybrook University, NY, focused on polarized morphogenesis in the fungal pathogen Candida albicans. As a postdoctoral researcher in Emory University, GA, she studied how the Planar Cell Polarity pathway regulates the development of sensory hair cells in the mammalian inner ear, and also controls convergent extension in zebrafish embryos. During her tenure as a Research Scientist at Georgia State University, GA, Padmashree's interdisciplinary work was centered on the development of novel prognostic and predictive biomarkers for breast, ovarian, colon, and prostate cancers. She has published over 48 research papers in high-impact journals including Molecular Cell, Clinical Cancer Research, and Cell Death and Differentiation. She is co-inventor on two granted patents, has peer-reviewed several manuscripts and played key roles in writing grant applications to various funding agencies including NIH, NCI, ACS, and the DoD. She has presented her work through posters and podium talks at prestigious international conferences, and has mentored graduate students in the area of scientific communication for over a decade. She combines her passion for both science and language, and enjoys helping fellow scientists through her scientific writing expertise and meticulous editing.
