After medical school at the University of Maryland and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT, Anne completed a fellowship in advanced pelvic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, and a Master's of Science degree in clinical research design and statistical analysis from the University of Michigan, School of Public Health. Anne practiced gynecology for over 15 years at the Cleveland Clinic and the University of Pittsburgh, while serving as a project officer with NIH to develop a new research portfolio in female pelvic floor disorders. Her NIH role included the initiation of a national multicenter clinical research network, and writing and editing clinical protocols and related documents. Through her clinical research work and her teaching roles for residents, fellows, and junior staff, Anne has gained extensive experience in medical writing and editing, with the publication of almost 100 peer-reviewed articles in medical and surgical clinical sciences, along with 45 non-peer-reviewed publications such as textbook chapters and invited commentaries. In addition, through her work with NIH, Anne was responsible for staff review of hundreds of NIH grants, giving her wide experience in identifying the most effective presentations of research proposals, previous work, and summaries in grant applications. Recently, Anne has devoted her full attention to medical editing. Her areas of expertise include all types of scientific publications related to medical and surgical clinical disciplines (original research, reviews, commentary, meta-analyses, decision analyses, etc); clinical research protocols and related documents including manuals of operations, data collection forms, adverse event forms and summaries, communications with FDA and industry, IRB applications and responses to reviews, and others; and all types of grant applications and follow-up reports, particularly those for NIH.
