Laura Z., Ph.D.
Laura received her B.A. from Washington University and her Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Missouri – Columbia. She is a specialist in plant cell biology, cellular signaling, molecular biology, and biophysics. She also has experience in the fields of chemistry, nanoscience, and engineering. Laura has been designing and funding her own research projects since she was a graduate student, and has extensive experience as an author and peer reviewer. She has authored more than 20 articles published in top journals including Plant Cell, Trends in Plant Science, Plant Physiology, Journal of Experimental Botany, and Journal of the Royal Society Interface. She has authored grants with a funding of $1.8 million that were awarded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Czech Ministry of Science, and the Dutch Ministry of Science. She has lived and worked in five different countries. This international experience as a research scientist, author, and peer reviewer gives her special insight as an editor of manuscripts and grants written by non-native English speaking authors. Laura transitioned into full-time editing, writing, and consulting in 2011.
