Rita N., Ph.D.


Rita received a Ph.D. from the Department of Pathology at Duke University where her thesis work focused on studying cell cycle regulation in breast cancer. She completed two post-doctoral fellowships, one at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center at Harvard Medical School and the other at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Her post-doctoral work focused on understanding growth factor signaling and mechanisms of drug resistance in breast cancer. She has been a junior faculty member for the past five years and directs a lab that studies growth factor signaling, drug resistance, and experimental cancer therapeutics. During the course of her academic career, Rita has been responsible for writing and editing dozens of peer-reviewed research and comprehensive review articles and investigator-initiated grant proposals in the areas of growth factor signaling, drug development, pharmacology, cancer research, molecular biology, and biomedical research. She is an author of more than 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts and two book chapters. She has served as a peer reviewer for 40 scientific or medical journals and has served on at least 15 grant study sections for the Department of Defense, NIH, and private research foundations. She has also served on the editorial board for five scientific journals. She enjoys scientific writing and is dedicated to providing the highest quality of scientific editing.
