Amy S., Ph.D.


Amy earned a B.A. in biology from the University of Virginia. Following graduation, she stayed at the University of Virginia as a research technician in a reproductive biology lab, where she developed a passion for research science and decided to continue her graduate education at Baylor College of Medicine. At Baylor College of Medicine, she wrote and obtained a predoctoral fellowship award from the Department of Defense to study the role of a long, noncoding RNA in mammary gland development and breast cancer, and she received her Ph.D. in developmental biology. Amy has authored several manuscripts on topics in reproduction, mammary development, and breast cancer in journals such as Developmental Biology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), and PLoS Genetics, and she has also written several review articles. Amy is currently continuing her research in breast cancer as a postdoctoral associate, and she enjoys editing manuscripts and grants in her spare time.
