Doug D., Ph.D.
Doug attended the University of Northern Iowa where he earned a BA in Biology in 1988 and received a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Iowa in 1993. His thesis work focused on cellular and molecular mechanisms of neurotoxicity. Doug went on to complete his post-doctoral training in the Neurology Department at the University of California, San Francisco where his research was primarily involved in signal transduction pathways. He then established his own research lab as a faculty member at the Texas A&M College of Medicine where he taught courses in Neuroscience, Anatomy, and Histology. He has also taught in Human Physiology and Biostatistics courses. His research has received NIH funding and produced numerous publications, and he has also served as a reviewer for several journals and funding agencies. His research has covered the spectrum of techniques from molecular and cellular methods, to cell culture and animal models. Doug also has training in a variety of other disciplines, including confocal microscopy, teaching methodologies, and psychology. Doug is currently focusing his time on Medical Editing/Writing and care of his special-needs child.
