In two full-day sessions, this workshop presents a roadmap for preparing clear, effective scientific research manuscripts. Topics to be covered through lectures and interactive writing exercises include:

  • Constructing every manuscript around a central question
  • The purpose and structure of each manuscript section
  • What information to include in each section
  • Common grammatical errors in scientific writing
  • Practical tips for writing efficiently
  • Presenting complex scientific ideas simply and clearly
  • The art of scientific writing to convey impact and significance
  • Expert advice for navigating the peer review process

The goal of this workshop is to help authors approach the writing process with confidence and expertise, with a clear strategy for communicating the significance of their research findings.

Who Should Take This Workshop?

The workshop is designed for post-docs and faculty, although senior graduate students will also benefit. Ideally, participants will have some previous experience writing scientific grants or manuscripts.

How much does it cost?

Registration Cost*: US $350.00 per person on or before Friday, March 1, 2013
US $400.00 per person after Friday, March 1, 2013

*Due at the time of registration. Includes workshop, continental breakfast each morning, morning and afternoon refreshments each day.

What if I need to cancel?

If you cancel at least four weeks prior to the workshop date, there is a $50 cancellation fee.
If you cancel less than four weeks before the workshop date, you will be refunded 50% of the workshop fee.
No shows = no refund. However, substitutions are welcome.
